About Me

I’ve always really enjoyed problem solving and the thrill you get from overcoming a challenge. I previously spent six years in finance helping companies raise money to expand but decided to move into tech last year. I find the opportunity of being able to build something yourself really appealing as well as working in a collaborative environment.
Skills and Experience

I recently completed a three month Web Development Immersive course at General Assembly. The course focussed on core coding skills as well as soft skills such as presentations and daily standups.
The course featured four modules, each of which culminated in a project where we had the chance to employ some of our newly learned skills.
Over the course I gained experience using:
jQuery, HTML5, AngularJS, Express.js, Node.js, MongoDB, Ruby, Postgres, SCSS, JSON, Gulp, AWS, Bower
Connect 4 Game

This was the first project I completed while at General Assembly after being on the course for three weeks.
The game is a two player Connect 4 Game rendered in 1980’s style graphics.
Build: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS

As the second project during the Web Development Immersive course, this was the first RESTful app I produced.
The app is an event website which enables users to post events, upload images, keep track of attendees and add user comments.
The site also features Facebook OAuth and uses Googlemaps API to provide location data.
Build: MongoDB, Express, Node.js, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bootstrap and Gulp
Disaster Relief

Disaster Relief was a group project which enabled users to post a ‘campaign’ if they needed assistance following a tragedy.
The app calculates distances between users using Googlemaps API and uses Nodemailer to alert matching users within a given redius.
Most of my work involved the setup of the restful routes, integrating the Google Maps API, image upload, front end validation and styling the site overall.
Build: MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, Node.js, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bulma, Gulp and Bower
Corporate Radar

Corporate Radar is a personal stock trading website which enables you to track stocks and add them to online fantasy portfolios.
Users could look at the portfolios of other users and comment on their strategy.
I used Angular charts to display in the portfolio information in a graphical format and Intrinio API to pull in real time stock data.
Build: Ruby, Postgres, AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bulma, Gulp and Bower
